Where to shop in London

John tells us a bit more about shopping in London…

"When I visit London one of my favourite things to do is shopping! I really enjoy hunting around for a bargain in the sales, buying something new to wear out on a Saturday night. Or alternatively, a bit of window-shopping - it doesn't cost a penny. Sometimes I'll spend hours just wandering around a market having a chat with my friends.

"There are loads of different places to go shopping in London. If you’re looking for 'high street' shops - the kind of shops you find in most towns, you can go to Oxford Street, but be warned, it gets too busy sometimes; it can be difficult to go anywhere! Alternatively for a less crowded, more relaxing shopping experience, go to Covent Garden, you can have an expensive cappuccino, and watch some (free) street theatre at the same time.

"Some people like shopping in department stores, the most famous one in London is 'Harrods' in Knightsbridge, but for me, it's not modern enough, and too expensive, the sort of place your parents shop. But just down the road is 'Harvey Nics', much more 'up-to-the-minute', but not cheap. The best of all the big department stores is 'Selfridges' in Oxford Street, it's a shoppers' paradise, nice clothes, and the prices? Well I can look, can't I?

"For that 'day out wandering around a marke' experience, try 'Camden', it's busy, exciting, trendy, and there are lots of bargains! You can buy cheap jeans and cool second hand clothes in the morning and then get a tattoo and a body piercing later on! If all that shopping is too tiring, you can get some Chinese or Thai food for £2 or £3, sit by the canal and drink a beer. What could be better?

"If Camden is not cultured enough, you might prefer a day to Greenwich - a world heritage site. This is a much more relaxing day out. You can have a stroll round the market and shops, and then take in a bit of London's history - it was the birthplace of Henry VIII, Queen Mary and Elizabeth I. There's also the park, the 'Cutty Sark' (an old tea clipper ship), the meridian line (where east meets west), and the old observatory…so much to do, but don't forget the shopping!"

I want to go a trip to London, so I learned this section. Specially, I love there 'Camden' because there are cheap jeans and cool second hand clothes!!! I want it.

Journey Time

From Heathrow to King's Cross takes approximately 1 hour. There are no traffic delays on the tube, but there are sometimes other problems and delays can occur.

Cost

From Heathrow to central London it costs £3.70 for an adult single fare, £1.50 for a child single fare.

Frequency

Trains leave every few minutes.

Comfort

The tube can be overcrowded, especially during the rush hour. There is limited space for luggage. Smoking is not allowed on the underground.

2. Airbus

Journey Time

From Heathrow terminal 4 to London takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. (journey time is subject to delay due to traffic conditions).

Cost

From Heathrow to central London it costs £8.00 for an adult single fare, £4.00 for a child single fare.

Frequency

Coaches leave every 20 - 30 minutes.

Comfort

When you book your ticket you are guaranteed a seat. Modern air-conditioned, double-decker coaches. Smoking is not allowed on Airbus services.

From Heathrow to Paddington takes 15 minutes.

From Heathrow to Paddington costs £13.00 for an adult single fare, £6.00 for a child single fare. There is also a 10% discount for booking online.

Frequency

Trains leave every 15 minutes.

Comfort

Modern, air conditioned trains. Smoking is not allowed on the Heathrow Express. A special 'quiet zone' is available.

4. Taxi

Journey Time

The journey time obviously changes according to the time of day and traffic conditions (road works, diversions etc), but allow between 30 and 75 minutes.

Cost can vary according to which minicab company you use, but a typical fare is around £34.00

Frequency

There are usually lots of taxis available, but you may like to book in advance and be met at the airport.

You may get talking to the cabby - London taxi drivers are famous for their abililty to 'chat'.

I tried on eleven dresses. I'm a little tired, but I enjoyed to do that. I choosed four wedding dresses which I'm going to wear when I take the wedding photo. The preparing marriage is tired,but it's joyful.

Ye-Eun who is my nephew celerbrated her first birthday. I'm surprised that the time past flies. I was so tired, because I stay up yesterday. But I was very enjoy to play with Ye-Eun. She was more pretty today than before. Although she very tired, she played well. When I saw her, I forget everything. Just I'm so happy.

I'm enjoying the MT. The MT means membership training. My church planed the MT to unite between the youth of church. Today is that day! After I finished classes, I went to bulgwang-dong. Many people gathered at the training center in bulgwang-dong. I'm here. I'm playing the game with people. I'm having a great time. I expect tonight.

Today is last day of midterm exam. My last midterm is English Reading & Writing. Altough I wake up early, I was a little late. After the last exam ended, I felt relaxation. I said "WOW~~!" Now, I have to do too much homework, but I'm happy.

I tend to go to the library when I have a examination. I always go to the library 6F, and then check my seat. The seat that I like is at the very front. The reason why I like the seat is that the seat is near by entrance.When the phone rings, I have to go out. So I sit down the seat. Also, I like the six floor, because I like a high place. The high place has a fine viwe. Anyway, I will like the six floor of the library and the seat until graduation.

My boyfriend and i don't often meet, so we always have an unsatisfied feeling about metting. But we enjoy our time by various ways. We use a short time to date. I go to school and do my homework until night. my boyfriend go to work and do exercise until night. So we meet at the front of my school, and we go to the subway station together for 10 minute. Although we have a short time, we are happy to see each other.

Today is cold. I don't like cold wether, because I feel more cold than others. Also, I have a cold body. If I eat or drink much cold food, it's not good for me. Anyway, these days is very cold. I heard the news that tommorrow is more cold. I'm afraid of my health.

This is my lovely chocolate, because my boyfriend gave me. This is Dolfin Chocolate from Belgium, so it's very very delicious. If you taste it, you would be surprised. The left is Lavande taste and the right is cacao tase. I like the left, because it's some unusual taste and addictive. Anyway, I'm thankful to my boyfriend for his careful concern. But... I'm so sick. I don't eat the chocolate.

[Diary] Suffer from Enteritis

Yesterday, I was a little bit sick. I was very sensitive, because there are three midterm examinations today. I felt sleepy, and I drank caffine drinking. Finally, I suffered from enteritis. I had diarrhea continuously. My body was all aglow. I had a terrible headache. I don't know how to take three examinations. After three examinations, I went to the hospital. I got two IV injection and an shot in the buttock. I don't eat anything. I'm so sick, so I can't feel hungry. I'm sad.

This photo is my old flat shoes. I bought this shoes last year. I have put on this shoes until today, but It's time to part my old shoes and I. It was very dirty and worn down at the heel. I did wear enough, so I bought new flat shoes. My new shoes twinkle on my feet. I will write about new shoes.

[Food] Rice noodles & Vietnam ssam

This food is rice noodles and Vietnam ssam. Vietnam ssam is that greens wrapped in ricepaper, and eat Vietnam ssam by dipping it in condiments. I like these foods, because this food is light. My intestines is very sensitive, so I have to be careful about my food. Although, I can like this food and eat it. Moreover, I love small size food, because small size food is easy to eat. Vietnam ssam what made by cooker is easy to eat. So I love it too. I want to eat that right now.

I'm studying for writing and reading. Today, I want to write what I learned.

[Life] I love cereal !

This cracker's name is Cereal. I'm falling into the Cereal these days.

I like a sense about crunch, crispy. So I love a radish and cabbage root. Anyway, I don't like crackers or snacks, but I want to eat crackers twice a year. These days is at that time. When I went to the market, I saw the Cereal. I bought it and ate it. Then, I bought again three Cereal. It's very delicious.

I will take midterm next week, but an important matter is not that. I have to take three examinations on friday and 1 examination on saturday. I'm afraid this situation. The stress about examination press me. I'll do my best, but I worry about that. I need to slow myself down.

[Wedding] HanBok

Hanbok is Korean traditional clothes. When korean get married, usually buy and dress up Hanbok. Today, my mother, my boyfriend and I went to order HanBok. There are vary silks. The HanBok store owner recommended color that look well with me. My boyfriend ordered HanBok, too. I expect my first HanBok.

[Restaurant] Da-Woo

Da-Woo is roll and noodle food restaurant about sookmyung university. I often go to the restaurant with my boy friend or friends. This restaurant's food is very fresh and easy to eat so I like. When I can't think what I want to eat, I go there. I have went to the restaurant and ate all of food for 3 years, but I still love it.

[Life] Gong-Duck Pork

Yenny, Jin-a, and I appointmented to go Gong-duck today. My final class was over at p.m.8:00 but Jin-a's class finished at p.m.8:40. Anyway, Yenny and I were waiting for her. At that time, my boyfriend called me. My boyfriend said that he want to buy today dinner to my friends. So we went to Gong-duck dong for eating Pork. The dinner was very good because this time was first time with together my boyfriend and my friends.

I took my graduation photo last week. The studio sent to me mobile mesaage that I can see my photo at the studio website. I was entering the website, and there are my photos. When I take a picture, I warried about it because make-up and hair are not to my taste. Fotunately, the pictures came out very well. I grinned hard when I took photo. I think that It's of help.

[Life] Get Up

My alarm clock rings about seven o'clock from Tuesday to Friday. However, I usually don't get up at once. Although my alarm clock crying, I turn off the alarm clock, and besides I sleep again. Why don't I get up with good feeling? What about you? May be, I think, my health fails. What I have too much dream is one of reasons that I don't get up well. Anyway, so I very hard to go to school and study. If you know the solution of this problem, please let me know the way. Please~~

[Think] Communication way 2

I want to write the remaining reasons that I prefer face to face communication. The other reason, we can avoid misunderstanding. I have been misunderstood when I sent to mobile message because mobile message couldn't express my feeling and my manner of speech. Also, if we talk about by looking for my friend, we can talk variety. When we talking about something, we say variety subjects coming across our mind continually at that time. So I like to talk by face to face communication.

I do a face pack with natural material weekly. Among them, I introduce the mung bean pack. The mung bean has excellent detoxifying properties so I can remove sebum, remainder makeup when I wash up with the mung bean powder. The way of mung bean face pack is very simple.

1. Mix mung bean powder, honey, milk.
2. Cover 1 on your face.
3. Wait 15 minute.
4. Wash your face.

I like a face pack with natural material becasue the pack don't make trouble. My skin is very sensitive but the pack is good on my face. After, I will introduce the face pack with rice bran, malt, job's tears.

     There is a youth group in the church that I attend weekly. The youth group is divided the small group called the farm. Our farm is made up seven person and I am leader of the farm.

     We open party on the first saturday of every month. Today is the party day! I suggested that each person prepare a dish for the party and we went hee-won's home with the food. I prepared the bibimbap with tuna. We ate the bibimbap and flavored glutinous rice mixed with honey, dates, chestnuts, etc. We talked for 2 hours and I went first to the church. We had a good time today!

I want to write the answer of   the question.

     I think that face to face communication is better than anyother types of communication such as e-mail, letter, and telephone. The communication include verbal expression and a gesture, we can use the way to expression at face to face communication. Also, we can not only understand a purpose of talking person but also go to the other side of communication.

     The reason that I prefer face to face communication is like this. I want to write one reason today.

First, we can communicate effectively. When I talk with my friends, I say words and take a gesture. For example, I take a happy face while I talk happy story so my friends understand my story very well.

My hompy is simple and clean mood. This photo is the first frame of my hompy. If you visit my hompy, you could see the picture including my profile, feeling, name, and so on.

This is my diary. I have writen since 2005. When I want to write my feeling or something that I suffered today, I writed diary at the hompy diary.





This photo album is very useful. I use the photo album by group of my life such as family, high-school friends, universty friends, church friends. I uproaded photo and then my friends write comments.

There are many SNS(Social Networking Service) these days. Cyworld minihompy is one of them. I will use the hompy and the other SNS such as twitter, facebook.

[Think] Media's invasion of privacy

I disagree with the statement that media pay too much attention to the pesonal lives of famous people because there is a right of famous people including me. First, I have a right that gets a high-quality content by media. But if media contents give too much the personal lives of famous people, I couldn't get contents that I want. Also, fomous people have a right of privacy. If their private life is exposed to media, they couldn't go around neighborhood and talk about anyting.

[Beauty] Dead Skin Cells on your lip

How do you remove your dead skin cells on your lip? I introduce my way removing dead skin cells on my lip. First, remove remainder of lipstick on your lip and then warm by steam towel. Next, massage your lip with brown sugar and honey. Last, wipe your mouth by steam towel and then cover essence or cream. I wish your lip is always moist.

[Life] Preparatory Wedding School

My boyfriend and I made a conscience of attending 'Preparatory Wedding School'. Preparatory Wedding School is the seminar for preparatory couples. It has conducted weekly and proceeded for 3 hours. We receipted the seminar. This is the seminar curriculum.

1. The biblical principle of wedding
2. The difference both man and woman
3. The wedding and self-image healing
4. The sex of husband and wife
5. The family economy
6. How to conversation and Solution of the conflict

We expect to that our relationship get better through the seminar.

[Life] Insomnia

I'm suffering from insomnia these days. I don't know why do I have insomnia. Maybe, the reason is getting stress. I have what I have to do and I don't have enough time. So I am not getting enough sleep. Finally, I was tossing and turnnig before I fell asleep. This situation is repeated. I will find a solution of insomnia.

[Recipe] Roasted Sweet Potato

I want to write the recipe of simple snack. The store sells all sorts of snack but there is chemical component in the snack. So I will report to you the hand-made snack.

● Ingredients : sweet potato, butter, cooking oil, starch flour, oligosaccharide, sugar powder

● recipe step :

1. Shred the sweet potato.

2. Rinse shredded sweet potatos with cold water.

3. Roaste shredded sweet potatos onto well-oiled frying pan over small heat.

    Sprinkle starch flour on shredded sweet potatos.

4. Put the sweet potatos on a plate and Sprinkle oligosaccharide, sugar powder.

 Do you remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001? I was 16 years old at that time. I watched that  tower of the World Trade Center had collapsed by the crash a tower and a plane. I thought that the scene is movie but it isn't. That's a real situation. I was so surprised and shocked. That incident was not only a very serious accident but also impacted the society. The effect of the incident has been contiune.

[World] Millennium Development Goals(MDGs) 10 Anniversary

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international development goals that all 192 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve by the year 2015. They include eradicating extreme poverty, reducing child mortality rates, fighting disease epidemics such as AIDS, and developing a global partnership for development. (source by wikipedia)

This year is MDGs 10 Anniversary so KOREAN NGO's NETWORK against GLOBAL POVERTY hold a celebration. The organization makes an effort to fulfill MDGs through white band campaign and this white band is used to anniversary event. Goodneighbors that one of non-governmental organization open event at Yeouido this weekend. You can take a polaroid photo and have a commemorative card when you get there.

[Life] The way for a walk - 'Hongnung Arboretum Way'

The City Hall of Seoul suggested the way for a walk. We can search this list in this website ecoinfo.seoul.go.kr. I went to 'Hongnung Arboretum Way'. This road is near by Kyung-Hee university and connect to Korea university. I went to about Kyung-Hee university to do my business and walked the road. There is many street trees by on the road because there is Hongnung Arboretum. If you want to walk silently and like to dense trees, I'll recommend this way. It's very nice walking course.

[Story] Promise

I want to talk about love story of my friend.

My friend dated his girlfriend last spring. They went to the cafe 'Coffee Time' and promised meeting again today next year. But they broke up because he have to go Canada for short language study. She said to him "I don't wait you." so their relationship ended.

Athough he went to Canada, he wonder whether she remember that promise. So he asked me to go the cafe and to find her.

I went to the cafe but she isn't. I have to send e-mail that include 'She isn't there.' to him. I wonder his reply.

I'm preparing the wedding. One of the wedding schedule is wedding dress choice. So I got around three wedding dress shop. I already printed out a dress photo and I wore various dress. The wedding dress that I want to wear is like this.

The total number of the dress that I wore is 11. But I didn't choice it because I didn't find my best dress. So I'm going to get around the other dress shop. I hope that I find my dress.

[Family] My Mom

My mom is 55 years old but she is my friend. I talk about many things of my life with her. She advise me how to live life. Sometimes, she repeat mention that she say already but that is heart loved me. So I learnd many things ㅡendurance, modesty, positive mind, toleranceㅡ through her. I want to inherit her disposition. I'll be good to my parents while they are here.

[Soap Opera] 'Sung Kwun Kwan' Scandal

'Sung Kwun Kwan' is the best educational institution in the Joseon Dynasty and is backgraound soap opera 'Sung Kwun Kwan Scandal'. That draw the student's life of Sung Kwun Kwan. I watch the soap opera because most of the cast act well and there is actor who I like. He is Song Jung Gi. He is very very cute and have baby face. Besides, his face acting is really excellent!! So that soap opera is more enjoy.

[Life] Smart Phone

Many people use 'Smart Phone' such as I-Phone, GALAXY these days. So I want to think about something 'Smart Phone' give us change.


I have used a I-Phone for 2 month. My life has changed and has conveniented. I talk with Smart Phone users free of charge. So I can talk often with friends who I can't meet. Also it reduce message cost. I call to my boyfriend through 'Internet Phone Application' for free. I search internet page and write my opinion on internet anywhere. I can read the world news paper and watch a video in subway. When I don't know a road, I don't worry because I-Phone know the road. Above this, there are many something special. I expect that Smart Phone improve our life.

[Diary] Heavy Rain

Today, the rain poured down. So the poor lived basement become victim of heavy rain. Besides, Today is Chu-Seok that people should enjoy. I'm so sad to hear that. I think Goverment should fix a drainage system and give some subsidy. When natural disasters comes, the gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger.

[Family] Ye-Eun

My Family is five. Father, mother, first brother, second brother, and me. I live with father, mother, and second brother. First brother get married his wife so they move out of their parents' house. And they have a child called "Ye-Eun'.

Ye-Eun is my nephew and I'm her father's sister. Ye-Eun is very cute and give my family happiness. She who was infant is growing up so she a little find her legs.   She celebrated her first birthday soon. So I give her birthday present,

I say to her "You are so pretty, and you'll call me 'beautiful aunt' forever." I love her.

I learned 'Plagiarism' in a class last week. I'll write things that I learned and knew new informations.

[Movie] Inception

'Inception' is my style movie. I heard good comment of the movie through my friends. After heard the movie, I tried to watch it but I didn't go to theater. When I watched the movie in a little while, I shouted "That's the movie!!"

I like a thriller and drama. I feel enjoy when I watch a movie with a complex situation. I'm interested in solution and mystery of situation. 'Inception' is very interesting movie. Movie story is like this.

'Inception' means inputting information in one's thinking. Cobb is not only thinking guard but also thief of thinking. By accident event Cobb is wanted and received from major company that want to do 'Inception' to competition company. Cobb orgarnize the team for 'Inception'.

The movie is a little difficult but it is this movie has interesting. Being Analysis the movie when watch it, you fall in the movie.

[Life] My Chuseok Plan

Chuseok is Korean tradition holiday and our most important holiday. At this year, Chuseok is a long holiday September 21, 22, 23. I don't attend school on Monday so I have a straight holiday from sep 18 to 23. So I planed what to do this holiday. And I decided to have LASEK operation today.
LASEK means Laser Epithelial eratomileusis (Naver term dictionary). People who can't receive operation because Retinal Detachment thickness is very thin have LASEK operation.
I'll have operation first with my life so I'm very scared. Specially, I'm worried about the operation because I have sensitive eyes. Besides, I heard there is many ache after operation. I'm very frighten but I'll put up with inconveniences. Why? I want to see the world cleanly.

[Class] Presentation review

 Our team presented "Essential reading skill" today. I was nervous because I'm first time presenting in English. Besides, our team of turn was first. We thought positively and prepared the presentation. We divised part of presentation and made a script and PPT. We presented and was easy to understand. I think the best thing we did is explanation easily. Luckily, we finished well and learned presentation skill in English. It's the point that I understand before presentation. I'll practice presentation step by step.

I saw this news and more had a shock than I thought. I want to post up this news article.

This chart show 'the professor graduated oneself's school by university'. This article suggest like this.

"Many universities such as Seoul University, Yonsei University, Korea University tend to appointment a professor graduated oneself's school. Now, The Official Appointment Regulations regulate the number of people to graduate the other shool above a third. But there is no restrict regulation so almost university disregard."

I have saw such as this attending university. There are professors that they graduated university of themself. I think this situation is very usal but I don't think that such a thing's numerial is above regulation. The number of chart is too much figure. I wish expand an opportunity of becoming professor.

[Think] Being alone

If I should choose to be alone or to be with friends, I'll choose being alone. The reason is that I can get many things when I'm alone.
First of all, the time alone give me the time that I can think past, present, future. I like thihking about me. Beacause I know me better through the time.
In addition, I can have a freedom of choice. When I'm with friend, I tend to follow friend's opinion. This is not that I don't like it. I can just have a chace of choice and enjoy it.
Also, I can hear my voice of inside. So I don't be swayed by many people.
This time makes me more mature so I'll have a plan that I send this time alone.

[Food] A restaurant "Rice&Pasta"

I went to a retaurant "Rice&Pasta" in myung dong today night with my boyfriend. We were so tired so we went into somewhere, called "Rice&Pasta". We ordered a combination fried rice and carbonara spaghetti. The food were very delicious and not oily so we liked this restaurant. Specially, the restaurant is clean and employees are very kind. If you go to myung dong, I will recommend the restaurant.

[Life] My wedding plan

I'm preparing for a wedding. My wedding date is next year February 12. So I'm stepping on wedding plan. Korean wedding tradition is very complicate so I have more attention. I want to write my wedding plan that I'm doing. ('we' is my boyfriend and I)

First of all, we arranged a meeting between the families of the bride and bridegroom. Specially, we had the meeting in my boyfriend's home. So the families of I and my boyfriend talked easlly.

The second, we decided a wedding date. We go to church every week. So we decided a wedding date to Saturday.

The third, we searched and choosed a wedding hall.

The next, we appointed to wedding consulting that connect a wedding studio, a dress shop, a make-up&hair shop.

We should decide honeymoon consulting. We are going to a volley.

In addition, we will buy a hanbok that is Korean traditional clothes and a wedding ring. And I should send wedding present to the bridegroom's family. It's Korean wedding tradition.

Above this, there is too much what to do. Besides, I go to school!! I'll have stress but I'll enjoy it.

[Life] I love black color!

I like black color because black is very simple and sensible. So I like to wear black colored clothes.
Today, I searched autumn clothes that I will wear this season. There are various clothes such as shirt, skinny jeans, pants, dress, cardigan. Most of all, I love black cardigan. Cardigan is very useful item when weather is very changeable as these days. I have some cardigan but I want to buy new cardigan that I don't have. Cardigan that I want to get is like this.

It's very usual and useful.

 

It has point color and is made a little thic material.

There is sepcial pattern on the front side.

I want to buy all but I don't have money. So I need wisdom of shopping.
